Supervisor: Child Protection Specialist (NO-C)
Objectives: Responsible for project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF-supported child protection activities. She/he will contribute to policy development in the area of Child Protection and to building/strengthening capacities at local and national level.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Collects and analyzes data for the Situation Analysis, programme/project planning, management, monitoring and evaluation purposes. Analyzes programme implementation reports and evaluates against established programme recommendations and plans of action. Prepares tables, graphs and other statistical data. Reports outcome of analysis and proposes corrective actions; 2. Undertakes ongoing visits to UNICEF project sites, assesses local conditions and resources, and monitors UNICEF inputs. Communicates with local counterpart authorities on project feasibility and effectiveness including monitoring the flow of supply and non-supply assistance; 3. Undertakes follow-up action on programme implementation activities, contributes to teamwork building, and prepares relevant reports. Drafts changes in programme workplans as required; 4. Attends technical cooperation meetings, prepares notes and undertakes follow-up action and coordination related to programme implementation and monitoring; 5. Assists in identification and selection of technical supplies and equipment.; 6. Assists in the preparation of the country programme recommendation by drafting CPSS, PSS and other relevant documentation ensuring accuracy and consistency with established rules and regulations. Maintains the computerized programme system database and submits relevant reports; 7. Selects and compiles training and orientation materials for those involved in programme implementation, including donor and media visits; 8. Evaluates and analyzes financial and supply reports to ensure appropriateness of documentation, expenditures are within allotments, data is consistent with PIDB. Reports to the Supervisor and/or Head of Office the outcome of reviews; 9. Drafts relevant sections of reports (required for donors, management, annual reports, etc.); 10. Any other tasks as requested by supervisor Qualifications and Experience:
University degree (at least BA) in social sciences, sociology or related field; Two years of progressively responsible professional work experience in programme design, field implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Work experience and expertise in the area of children at risk or children in need of special protection and/or a background in child development/child care and protection is an important factor; Fluency in English and Farsi (written and spoken); Knowledge of computer management and applications; Experience with UN agencies, int’l NGOs or int’l companies in Iran a plus; Analytical, negotiation, communication and advocacy skills; Programme planning and monitoring skills; Ability to organize work and projects and to make timely and quality judgments and decisions; Expertise in organizing training workshops; Teamwork abilities; Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment Interested applicants are requested to send their CV’s, in English, through the UN website http://jobs.un.org.ir under UNICEF job vacancies no later than Saturday 12 December 2009 quoting Vacancy # 2009/20
